Primitive, but not naive
AS my home overlooks one of the world's great harbours, I suppose I'm bound to turn to maritime themes from time to time.
This little sketch was prompted by a photo I saw in a book. The arrangement of moored vessels set against the blue water caught my eye. I then investigated its possibilities as a simple painting.
Harbour in Blue is the result. It's not quite naive enough to qualify as naive art, but there is something vaguely primitive about it.
