A Hat For High Summer

A SMALL painting in a Falmouth art gallery provided the inspiration for this picture. It showed a pale-faced woman with a bird on her shoulder.

My picture shows a different woman in different colours without the accompanying bird. And instead of a huge hair-do, my lady is wearing a hat.

It's called Woman in a Summer Hat, wholly appropriate as we're now in the middle of the best spell of weather I can recall in Britain since the sizzler of 1976.
